- What is hreflang x-default?

- Do hreflang tags need to be reciprocal?
- Yes. Every version should list all the others, including itself. If your French page names the English one but the English page does not name the French one back, search engines commonly ignore the pairing altogether.
- Do I need hreflang for one country?
- No. If you publish one version for one audience, hreflang adds nothing. It exists purely to connect equivalent pages that differ by language or region.
